Angelenos in need of COVID-19 tests, overdose-reversing medication and other health-related needs can access them for free at Los Angeles County’s new community health stations.

The stations, which are essentially vending machines that offer the equipment for free, were unveiled this week by the county’s Department of Public Health.

The following items are available at the 51 stations across the county:

  • COVID-19 self-test kits allow for Angelenos to better diagnose their symptoms. Each box contains two tests.
  • Naloxone, which is also known by the brand name Narcan, reverses an opioid overdose. Each order contains two single-use devices in blister packages and instructions for use.
  • Fentanyl test strips allow for the detection of the dangerous opioid. Each kit contains five individually packaged strips and instructions for use.
  • External condoms and lubricant are intended to better protect people’s health and prevent unwanted pregnancies or sexually transmitted infections. Each package holds five condoms and five containers of non-spermicidal lubricant.
  • Internal condoms perform a similar function. Each package contains one internal condom and instructions for use.

“COVID-19 self-tests, naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and condoms allow individuals to take actions that protect themselves and others in the community,” said Barbara Ferrer, director of Public Health. “Having free public health supplies available to residents seven days a week through the self-service Community Health Stations makes it easier to access important products that support health and save lives.”
