Crews battled a large fire at a commercial building in the city of Commerce Wednesday night.

The third-alarm fire was reported at the 100’ x 100’ property on the 2000 block of Davie Avenue around 6:45 p.m.

There are reports that the building may be housing e-bikes powered by lithium-ion batteries, but L.A. County fire officials have not confirmed that detail.

The roof appeared to be completely destroyed as heavy smoke was seen billowing into the sky and flames engulfed the property.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevented the fire from spreading into the building next door. There was also concern about the flames affecting nearby power lines.

At around 7:45 p.m., crews appeared to have gained control of the flames as lingering hot spots were extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
