LAPD officers began the pursuit in North Hollywood shortly before 7 p.m. as the driver hit the 170 and 101 Freeways. California Highway Patrol officers eventually took the lead as the driver arrived in the Woodland Hills area on the northbound 101.

The driver continued to the Thousand Oaks area as CHP officers followed closely behind. At this point, Sky5 was forced to leave due to dangerous conditions from heavy fog.

On Saturday, CHP confirmed the suspect, Luchiano Antonio Lewis Villanueva, 27, was taken into custody Friday night.

During the chase, CHP officers successfully deployed a spike strip, which flattened the left side tires of his vehicle. He continued driving, but his speed was drastically reduced and he eventually pulled over near the SeaCliff Avenue exit on the 101.

Villanueva was arrested at the scene for various felony charges and for suspicion of being under the influence of drugs. He was transferred into the custody of LAPD officers.

Footage of the chase can be seen in the video player above.
