A man was killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Orange County.
On May 2, Orange County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Pacific Avenue in Stanton around 11 p.m.
The suspect, who was driving a Dodge sedan, had collided with a Toyota van in a head-on crash, deputies said. The impact had pushed the cars into a third vehicle that was parked nearby.
The van driver, Hoanh Thanh Ngo, 55, of Stanton, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The Dodge driver, James Anthony Deleon, 30, of Irvine, had fled the scene on foot.
Officers arrived and located Deleon a short time later. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence with a prior conviction. He was booked into the Orange County Jail for murder and a DUI causing injury.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the OCSD’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
