A missing elderly woman was found dead in a remote area off a highway in San Bernardino County.
On May 13, Lorraine Bird, 86, of Twentynine Palms, was reported missing by family members.
On May 19, deputies with the Morongo Basin station responded to reports of a body found off Highway 247, near Bodick Road in Johnson Valley, around 5:16 p.m.
Deputies arriving at the remote area spotted the woman’s body near a large group of boulders.
The cause of death remains unclear and is pending autopsy results. No further details, including how the woman may have arrived in the area, were released as the investigation continues.
