A race between a BMW driver and a motorcycle rider in Palmdale ended in a shooting that struck the rider and left him hospitalized Monday afternoon.
Deputies were sent to East Avenue Q near 25th Street East after receiving a call of an assault with a deadly weapon around 4:30 p.m. and contacted the victim.
The unidentified victim told deputies he was on a motorcycle racing a white BMW westbound on Avenue Q from 30th East when a female passenger gave several hand gestures as they approached 25th East, the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station posted on Facebook Tuesday.
“Seconds later, the victim felt extreme pain in his right leg,” the post read.
The person who called 911 also stopped to check on the victim and informed him that he had been shot by a male driver in the BMW.
“The victim was treated on scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department for a single through and through gunshot wound entering his buttock and exiting his right inner thigh,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
The rider was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Investigators discovered a single 9mm expended shell casing at the scene and were able to identify and arrest the suspect later that night, according to the post.
The suspect, who also has not been identified, is currently being held at the Palmdale Station.
