The westbound lanes of the 101 Freeway were closed for several hours through the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles due to a multi-car crash Tuesday morning.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash just east of Fallbrook Avenue around 12:45 a.m., preliminary information indicates.
Several people were injured in the collision, including at least two people who were taken from the scene in an ambulance. The extent of the injuries was unknown.
The crash forced the closure of all westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes as emergency crews responded to the scene.
The eastbound lanes reopened a short time later but the SigAlert for all westbound traffic was extended for approximately two more hours at 4 a.m., the California Highway Patrol posted in an update on X, formerly Twitter.
Westbound vehicles were being diverted off at Ventura Boulevard.
Officials managed to reopen the lanes earlier than expected, with the SigAlert being canceled around 5:15 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
