A double homicide suspect has been detained after two adults – one male and one female – were found dead in their San Gabriel Valley home on Saturday afternoon.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a call came into the Azusa Police Department around 2 p.m. for reports of a person screaming, possibly from a domestic violence incident, on the 300 block of North Twintree Avenue.
Officers arrived and detained a man in front of the home. LASD said this man was found with “numerous apparent knife wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.”
Upon entering the home, the sheriff’s department said officers found a man and woman also suffering from numerous knife wounds.
Officials pronounced the two victims dead at the scene. LASD did not reveal the victims’ identities as of Saturday evening.
According to the stringer service RMG News, unconfirmed reports said the victims were parents, and that the suspect was possibly their son.
Neighbors also told KTLA’s Sara Welch that they knew a family of three – two parents and their adult son – lived in the home where the investigation was taking place.
However, the sheriff’s department did not immediately comment on these details.
Investigators encouraged anyone with information about this incident to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
