An hourslong barricade situation at a 7-Eleven store has resulted in a large police presence in Long Beach Tuesday morning.

Law enforcement was alerted to the situation by two employees who ran out of the convenience store on Pine Avenue and East Broadway when a suspect allegedly tried to rob the location around 2 a.m.

The suspect was barricaded inside the 7-Eleven and would not come out when officers arrived at the scene.

Video shared with KTLA showed a large armored SWAT vehicle moving into position near the multiple police vehicles that were already outside the store.

A robot and at least one flash-bang device were deployed in an attempt to bring the standoff to an end, but the suspect did not surrender.

SWAT officers eventually entered the store and were still inside as KTLA’s Carlos Herrera reported from the scene at 6:30 a.m.

The suspect was only described as a male, and it was unclear if he was armed.
