The incident began at San Fernando Road and West Los Feliz Road shortly after 9:45 a.m., a spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to KTLA.

Authorities told KTLA’s Sara Welch that all the passengers on the bus had exited and the bus operator, who was wrapping up his shift, noticed a lone man still aboard and reportedly asleep in his seat with a gun.

Responding SWAT teams were able to watch the man by viewing Metro’s real-time surveillance cameras inside the bus while they used a bullhorn to get the suspect to wake up.

The man was finally taken into custody around 11:45 a.m. without any further confrontation.

The motive for the man’s actions has not been released.

It did not appear that anyone was injured in the incident.
