Police are investigating a possible shooting near a church in Huntington Park that left a person injured late Sunday night.

While Huntington Park Police Department officials did not immediately provide details surrounding the incident, the Los Angeles County Fire Department stated that a call came out at 11:03 p.m. in the 6900 block of Rugby Avenue near Saturn Avenue.

One person was transported to a hospital in the alleged shooting, an L.A. County Fire Department spokesperson told KTLA; however, the spokesperson could not confirm the type of injury sustained by the victim nor their condition. A neighbor did tell KTLA 5’s Erin Myers that he heard gunshots late Sunday night.

Video from the scene taken in the moments after the incident shows a heavy police presence in the area and a young man being loaded into an ambulance.

The scene was still blocked off as of 5 a.m. Monday, and the investigation appears to be centered around St. Clemente de Roma Episcopal Church, which is located at the intersection of Rugby and Saturn.

It is not known if the alleged shooting occurred inside or outside the house of worship, and no information surrounding a possible suspect or suspects or a potential motive was immediately available.
