A pursuit that began early Wednesday morning ended with shots fired and one person dead at the end of a cul-de-sac in the Winnetka neighborhood of Los Angeles.

California Highway Patrol officers began pursuing a white van around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Sunnybrae Avenue. It was unclear what prompted the chase but the final moments were captured on video when the van came to a stop in the cul-de-sac.

Sirens can be heard on the video followed by multiple gunshots as flashing lights from patrol units are seen on camera.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, which arrived to assist in the investigation, said that one person was killed in the shooting.

Authorities have not confirmed any information regarding the deceased person but a family member at the scene described the driver as their 21-year-old grandson who took the family’s van to go to a party.

It was unclear if any officers were injured in the incident.
