A Fontana teenager has been arrested for attempted murder after she allegedly shot a 16-year-old boy in the leg.

Rebecca Marie Garcia, 18, was arrested on Wednesday at her home in the 8600 block of Tamarind Avenue, the Redlands Police Department said in a news release.

According to police, she was driving a silver Honda sedan on Orange Street just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday when she made a U-turn, pulled up alongside the boy, called out to him and shot him in the leg before fleeing.

The boy was taken to a local hospital for emergency surgery.

“Before going into surgery, the victim identified the shooter as a woman he knew only by the name Becca,” the release said. “Police were able to confirm Garcia as the suspect.”

Garcia is facing an attempted murder charge, and she’s being held without bail at the West Valley Jail.

She’s due to appear in San Bernardino Superior Court on Friday.
