A suspect was arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing attack in Orange County.

On May 24, police responded to an altercation at a 76 gas station at 3071 Edinger Avenue in Tustin shortly before 5 p.m.

Officers found the victim, identified only as a 27-year-old man, suffering from stab wounds. The suspect had fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center in critical condition and, despite lifesaving efforts, died from his injuries.

Detectives later identified Jose de Jesus Herrera, 51, of Pomona, as the primary suspect.

The investigation revealed Herrera and the victim were involved in an altercation that escalated into a stabbing. Police did not reveal whether the suspect and victim were known to each other before the altercation.

Herrera turned himself in to Tustin police and was booked into the Orange County Jail for murder.
