Police are searching for a man wanted for harassing a 16-year-old girl who was walking on the street in Whittier Friday.
The girl was walking near Whittier Boulevard and Santa Gertrudes Avenue when she was approached by the male suspect around 4 p.m.
The man reportedly told her he wanted to commit lewd acts with her, police said.
The girl ran across the street and immediately called the police. The suspect fled the area on foot and was last seen walking westbound on Whittier Boulevard.
Police arrived at the scene and searched the area, but the man was not found. He is described as a Hispanic male around 30-40 years old with brown hair, a mustache and a beard. He stands around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.
He was believed to be wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, and was carrying Target shopping bags during the incident, authorities said.
“Officers will continue to be highly visible in the area and are continuously looking for the suspect,” Whittier police said.
Anyone who may have footage of the incident or additional information on the case is asked to call the Whittier Police Department at 562-567-9240.
