Authorities are looking for a dozen teens and young adults who robbed and beat a 16-year-old boy in an Apple Valley Park last month, then used the stolen debit card at a local liquor store.

That 16-year-old boy was walking through Civic Center Park, located at 14999 Dale Evans Parkway, a few minutes before 9 p.m. on May 31 when he was approached by three females and nine males believed to be between 16 and 25 years old, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

“A female in the group ripped the victim’s necklace off his neck and a male punched the victim on the right side of his head,” the release explained. “The victim fell to the ground and was repeatedly punched and kicked by the subjects. The female who initially ripped off the victim’s necklace, took his wallet which contained his debit card.”

That debit card was used about 45 minutes later at a nearby liquor store, and security footage showed one of the girls make the purchases while accompanied by a few of the boys, all of whom investigators said were juveniles.

The youths did not purchase alcohol, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The SBSD released images of some of those involved in hopes that a member of the public can help identify them.
