A Temecula elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged with molesting a student.

George Vega, 57, was arrested Tuesday, nearly three weeks after the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office received word that a teacher at a school in the 29000 block of Mira Loma Drive had “inappropriate contact with a student,” the agency said in a news release. That address corresponds with Vail Elementary School, and Vega’s LinkedIn account lists him as a teacher there.

Vega was placed on administrative leave by the school after a deputy visited the school the evening of May 7.

He’s been booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges of molesting a minor and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. His bail was set at $55,000.
