A Metrolink train struck a vehicle near Camarillo on Monday, killing the car’s driver and halting the train’s journey to Los Angeles.

The Metrolink Ventura County Line took to social media to announce the crash at about 2:15 p.m.

The Ventura County Fire Department later detailed that the southbound Ventura County Line 118 train hit the vehicle at Las Posas Road and Fifth Street between Camarillo and Oxnard.

The train’s five passengers and three crew members were uninjured, but the driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

As a result, the tracks were closed and VC Line 118 to Los Angeles was stopped, and riders were offered alternate transportation to complete their trips.

Information about the cause of the crash was not immediately available.
