Authorities are investigating after a woman was killed in an RV fire in San Bernardino County.

On Oct. 3, crews responded to a fire that began in a travel trailer parked in a remote area of Hesperia around 11:10 a.m.

Firefighters found the trailer completely engulfed in flames after receiving reports of a person who was still inside.

“Gusty winds were pushing the fire into the surrounding desert vegetation, and several Conex structures, as well as a large debris pile, were also on fire,” officials said.

After extinguishing the blaze, fire crews discovered a woman inside the trailer. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was the only resident inside the RV. The remote area was home to multiple vehicles and residential mobile homes.

A nearby male resident suffered minor injuries from the fire. He was treated on scene. No firefighters were injured and crews were able to stop the growing blaze from spreading to nearby structures and vegetation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The victim’s identity was not released.
