The FBI on Thursday released surveillance photos of the “person of interest” sought in the fatal shooting of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who was killed by a sniper’s bullet while speaking at Utah Valley University a day earlier, and offered a reward for helpful information.
The photos show a person who authorities say appears to be of college age dressed in dark clothing, a hat and sunglasses, and wearing a long sleeve shirt bearing an American flag graphic.
“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” read the FBI’s post to X.
Those with information were urged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online here.
The FBI also announced it is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for “information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk.”
According to the Associated Press, the sniper who shot Charlie Kirk is believed to have jumped off a roof of a campus building and fled into a neighborhood after firing one shot.
He had not been publicly identified as of Thursday morning. Authorities disclosed they recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle they believe was used in the attack.
Beau Mason, the commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, said that officials believe the suspect arrived in the area of the event at 11:52 a.m. local time, about a half hour before Kirk was shot.
