LOS ANGELES (KTLA) —Theme park fans have long speculated if Homer, Marge, Bart and the rest of the Simpson family could come to Disney Parks after the entertainment company acquired the popular animated TV show when buying 21st Century Fox in 2019.
A survey recently conducted by Disney asked respondents if they would like to see Simpsons-themed lands, attractions and meet-and-greet characters in the company’s theme parks, according to Drew Smith, who shares news about Walt Disney Co. on X.
Currently, guests can visit the Simpsons family at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando, thanks to a previous deal with Fox that gave Universal the exclusive rights to the characters in its U.S. theme parks. However, their contract could end in 2028, according to WDW News Today.
Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando opened Simpsons-themed lands in 2008, complete with rides, dining, and character meet-and-greets.
Universal Studios Hollywood fans have speculated that an expansion of Super Nintendo World or the Wizarding World of Harry Potter could replace Springfield U.S.A. should Universal close it down. Others have suggested that a brand-new land themed to Pokemon could be its replacement.
Universal Studios Hollywood has not announced a closure of the land, nor has Disney announced any upcoming projects involving the Simpsons.
