Six Flags America is saying goodbye to its long-running Fright Fest as the park enters its final fall season before permanently closing later this year.

Park officials confirmed to KTLA 5 that Fright Fest will not return in 2025. According to WUSA9, this would be the first time since 1999 that the Halloween event will not be held.

With no Fright Fest this year, the Maryland-based theme park will focus on daytime, family-oriented activities through its Kids Boo Fest, running weekends from Sept. 13 to Nov. 2.

“We understand that change can sometimes be challenging, and we deeply appreciate the support and enthusiasm of our guests,” the statement said.

To help ease the disappointment, season passholders were notified directly via email and offered a complimentary ticket to Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, the closest Six Flags-branded park.

Earlier this year, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced plans to shut down Six Flags America and its water park, Hurricane Harbor, at the end of the 2025 season.

The 500-acre property employs about 70 full-time associates, who the company said will be provided severance packages and transition support through the end of operations on Sunday, Nov. 2.
